Scripting Code of Conduct

Over the years, unchecked scripting has been detrimental to OWOT. Currently, there is no formal guideline for deciding the boundaries for script usage. Each incident has been looked upon on a case-by-case basis, leading to confusion regarding what is allowed and what is not allowed.

Wiper usage can be seen as a gray zone since some users use wiper scripts to erase spam and inappropriate image pastes. However, it's also used maliciously or incompetently since some users either lack proper judgement as to what constitutes as spam and what text should be left alone.

Generally, script usage has put non-script users at a severe unfair disadvantage which pushes them away from OWOT. One of our plans involves the creation of a Code of Conduct for scripting which outlines what is acceptable script usage, what is unacceptable, and what is a gray area. Further plans may involve limiting scripting in general to protect the site and the community from attackers and naive script kiddies.
