Scripts that create the illusion of movement by rapidly pasting and deleting text.

Unless stated otherwise, all gifs here are playing at real time.

FP

New Year/Christmas Countdowns

FP's New Year and Christmas Countdowns feature multiple animated elements. See one of these events in action here.

Fireworks Script

The animated fireworks script from the New Year countdown has also been used by spammers for more destructive purposes.

Bomb Script

A script that places a bomb emoji on the canvas, which explodes after a brief countdown and scatters all text in its vicinity.

Prophetbot

A bot created by TheUltimateKatanaMaster in July 2023. It is primarily a chat bot, though the name "Prophetbot" is also attached to an animated scrolling text display that would appear at Spawn from time to time.

Roombas

Catha'vi's roomba on YWOT(Sped up 30x)

In their early days on the site, Catha'Vi was known for creating ASCII roombas which would move around the canvas and delete everything in their paths.

These roombas were initially deployed on Your World of Text, where they were seen as a nuisance by much of the site's users. Catha'vi's roombas were inspired by an earlier script from YWOT which was also abhorred by the userbase.

The roombas suffered a similar level of backlash when they were eventually ported over to OWOT. On one instance, FP himself ordered Catha'vi to shut down their script, complaining that they needlessly erased text and left ugly patterns all over Spawn.

/movienight

/movienight was a world which hosted scheduled broadcasts of various movies.

It played films at ~5 fps using a grid of 80x25 characters. Graphics were initially rendered using colored full blocks(█), but later updated to a combination of half blocks(▀, ▄) and cell background colors for double the resolution. Subtitles were included to make up for a lack of sound, though they were often out of sync with the scenes.

/movienight shut down in August of 2024, but Catha'vi hinted one year later that the world might return sometime soon.

/movienight2

On August 18th, 2025, Catha'vi created a sequel to /movienight which rendered footage using octant characters. This newer world animated on a smaller grid(40x12 characters) in order to improve the frame rate(and also because octants allowed for higher resolutions to be achieved using fewer characters).

Daydun?

A set of animated spinning graphics that were occasionally broadcasted to Spawn, most recently in August of 2025.

These graphics were attributed to DayDun[1], a founding member of OWOT and its sister website OWOP.

Octant Video Player by ??????

The video player running alongside two iterations of Daydun?'s rotating graphic(August 16th, 2025)
Color on vs color off(August 14th, 2025)

Created by an anonymous user who used #CAD453 for their text color.

The script rendered footage from its creator's monitor using octants. Its frame rate and resolution were extremely low, limitations which the creator blamed on Spawn's excessive ratelimit.

FP color banned the creator of the video player after they repeatedly used it to stream porn at spawn. This proved to be ineffective, and the user would resume their illicit broadcast a few days later.

The player was also used to play less graphic pieces of media, including TV shows like Breaking Bad and Beavis and Butthead. Other times the creator would simply livestream themselves browsing social media or scrolling around OWOT itself.

The creator briefly considered releasing the script to the public, but decided not to after being convinced that bad actors would use it to lag the canvas.

Miscellaneous

A variety of animated scripts on February 26th, 2023

Trivia

  • Animated scripts also exist on Your World of Text—with the most notable example being the infamous Roomba—though they tend to be much slower due to the site's lower rate limits.
  • Animation is technically possible on Our World of Pixels but faces similar constraints as YWOT.
  • Bad Apple has been animated multiple times on all three canvases.
  • As of 2025 no one has ever attempted to run DOOM in OWOT, though Guest-1052 one suggested that it could be done by porting msdos ASCII DOOM 1999 into the site. On another note, Catha'vi's world /doomwad contains the entirety of doom.wad encoded in octants; the world contains 3 mb of data and is roughly 246 coordinates long.
