This article lists the changes by the time of deployment and not when they were committed to the repository. Only relevant changes will be listed.

Requesting features

If you want to request a feature, You can do it in many ways:

• Going on /fp and requesting the feature there on the canvas or chat.
• Going on the OWOT Discord and requesting it there
• Pinging @system2k on discord for a feature
• Visiting the NWOT Github repo and doing a pull request or issue.

• Single/double dots cannot be used in world segments
• Fixed issue where you can rename a world by adding a slash at the end, thus preventing access to it
• Fixed issue preventing you from pressing Shift+Enter (useful for when you hold Shift+<symbol> and need to press Enter quickly)
• Fixed issue with the area deletion tool using tiled selection

• Mobile input has been improved for Android devices
• The /warp chat command sets the world's attributes
• A built-in region wiper has been included for world owners
• You can now toggle a setting to limit text copying on your world.

• You can now see when you claimed a world. Worlds claimed over 6 months ago don't have such data unfortunately.
• You can now run /block anon (or /block reg for registered users) to block anonymous users
• World owners can make use of the /delete chat command (requires a script!)
• If you're muted in chat, the server will now tell you.
• You can now hold Ctrl to zoom in/out without relying on your browser. You can hit Ctrl/+ or Ctrl/- or Ctrl/0 too.

Worlds that archive major batches of updates.

1. /changelog/: Released October 28th, 2017, 20 days after the launch of the site.
   1. Introduced the site and its differences from Your World of Text.
   2. Presumably included the background images update, which is showcased by a backdrop of pumpkins.
2. /changelog/2: Released October 30th, 2017, 22 days after the launch of the site.
3. /changelog/3: Released March 8th, 2018.
   1. This is the smallest changelog so far, covering only the addition of per-cell protection in worlds.
4. /changelog/4: Also released in March of 2018.
   1. Another small changelog, but this one is important for introducing the beloved Chat. At the time FP encouraged users to continue having conversations on the canvas, with the chatbox only being a secondary feature.
5. /changelog/5: Released July 19th, 2018.
6. /changelog/6: Released December 1st, 2018.
7. /changelog/7: Released September 2nd, 2019. The longest wait for a changelog at the time of its release.
   1. Introduced Uvias, OWOT and OWOP's login system.
8. /changelog/8: Released May 11th, 2020.
9. /changelog/9: Released July 2020.
10. /changelog/10: Released May 2022. The longest wait for a changelog at the time of its release.
11. /changelog/11: Released on May 27th, 2023. The largest changelog by far, covers exactly two years of updates from May 2022 to May 2023.
    1. Includes major updates such as Symbols for Legacy Computing, the introduction of custom cell colors, and the open sourcing of OWOT.
    2. Fittingly, the background art is created using SLC and custom cell colors.
12. /changelog/12: "please check back in a few years"
    1. The longest wait for a changelog so far, at over two years as of September 2025.
13. /changelog/13: "I don't know about you, but I'm excited for this update"
14. /changelog/14: "This changelog will be the best changelog at the time of its release"
15. /changelog/15: "I hope 15 comes soon, it's gonna be a mass graveyard for bugs"
16. /changelog/16: "enough skipping, it won't make the updates come in any faster"
