Proxy attacks are a form of [[wikipedia:Denial-of-service_attack|denial of service attack]]. These attacks involve proxy swarms which are groups of at least two proxies being commanded by at least one attacker. Proxy attacks occur when a proxy swarm is used against OWOT with the goal of shutting down the server. The most damaging proxy attacks involve dozens of proxies and lead to the server slowing down or crashing. In some cases, dozens of proxies can be used to spam the chat to make it inaccessible.

This Article is about the times OWOT had an Proxy attack
To date, there have been dozens of proxy attacks with multiple possible perpetrators or groups. One event in particular led to the banning of 1,500 TOR exit nodes in one day which rendered OWOT mostly inaccessible to TOR users.

proxy attacks nowadays on owot, are quite common things. people just want to get away with spamming for as long as possible, for hours on end. while proxies are pretty limited resources, they might last you quite a while, and obviously proxies arent free, one example proxy is tor. tor allows you to mask your ip allowing you to access the dark web with ease without getting doxxed by some hacker and having your info put up on the dark web. but tor is a free proxy, so it's quite limited. this is probably the most common proxy used on owot and everywhere. anyways a proxy attack happened on October 24 but just remember fp can either lock chat or canvas down at any second.
